Happiness

There are many actions, events and happenings that can make one happy. But what truly is happiness? “Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony”, said the first president of India, Mahatma Ghandi. Well I couldn’t have said it any better. Consequently, happiness is the key to good physical and mental health. Let’s now look at seven simple tips to be happy.

First of all, one must be brave enough to forgive and humble enough to apologise. As humans no one of us are perfect. It’s the nature of man to do what is wrong, but most of the time we tend to repent from evil ways. Holding back grudge can only cause you to be bitter and can never make you a happy person.

Secondly, learn to think and analyse thoroughly before making any decisions. Making decisions can sometimes become a good or bad life changing moment for many. So it’s very important to learn how to be a critical thinker so that one will make the right moves to avoid regrets later in life.

Thirdly, be a realistic person. A realistic person lives in reality rather than in assumptions and preconceived views. Life is a journey where you will be facing ups and downs, accepting this fact prepares you mentally to deal with tough situations.

Moreover, spirituality plays an important role to keep you happy. There are things we can see with our naked eyes and there also unseen things of the spiritual world. No matter what, looking around at the beautiful creations around us, reminds us of a creator as well. Acknowledging Him in our lives and praying for our needs, especially when we can’t handle things on our own gives us peace beyond what man can.
The next is to do good and be good. Help a friend with his or her homework, help mom in the kitchen work, spend time with your family and so on. After helping people we tend to have that good feeling within us, which evidently shows that doing good or being good can make us feel happy. So start helping people around you as much as possible.

Moving on, discipline is another criteria to keep your happy mood on the go. Be discipline on your food intakes, time management and exercise! Embracing your laziness can only kill your time and keep you from moving forward. Ever experienced going late to work or college? And imagine if you are caught in a jam on the way to work that day. That anger gushing out from you, that fear within you thinking of what your boss or your lecturer is going to say and many other ragging emotions spoils your day. So keeping yourself disciplined keeps you healthy and productive.

The seventh and the last tip is to live the moment. Many a times, we tend to think too much of the past or too much of the future and get caught in feelings of disappointment and anxiety. Live the moment! Do things that you love, pursue your dreams and embrace the beautiful people God has given you. Remember, you can’t change your past or your future, but you can take charge of your present to have a good future!

All these seven tips can surely keep you happy. How would life be if you don’t enjoy it? Happiness can always be found within us. So laugh more, keep the smile always and be happy!
